Yahoo’s Brand Marketing SVP Allen Olivo To Leave Company

June 10, 2009 0

Sunnyvale, California — During the last few months of Carol Bartz’s reign, a lot of upper class employees are quitting, and now a senior vice president is ready to join the group’s ranks. “Allen Olivo,” SVP of global brand marketing, and has been on Yahoo’s payroll for over three years, is leaving the company, according to sources.

The high-level departure is the latest at Yahoo, as major executive changes continue. He is not the type of person Yahoo would want to lose, because according to Olivo’s LinkedIn profile, his past work experience includes stints at impressive corporations like Apple, Amazon, and Pacific Bell.

And surprisingly enough, as part of his profile, Olivo also mentioned that he is interested in “career opportunities,” “job inquiries,” “business deals,” “getting back in touch,” “new ventures,” “expertise requests,” and “reference requests,” which amounts to showing a lot of curiosity in things other than his current employer.

Yahoo confirmed the departure in a statement to BoomTown: “After more than three years at Yahoo!, Allen Olivo is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Allen has been a dedicated and valued member of the Yahoo! team and we wish him well in his future endeavors. Allen will remain at Yahoo! for a period of time in order to ensure a smooth transition.”

Olivo ran brand marketing for the Silicon Valley-based Internet giant, which is about to undergo a major new push under CEO Carol Bartz.

Olivo joined Yahoo in early 2006 and has been responsible for “overseeing all aspects of its advertising and brand marketing strategy worldwide, including design and editorial.”

Olivo was reportedly up for the chief marketing officer job, which went to former NetApp marketing exec Elisa Steele recently.
