Yahoo! Announced Enhanced Search Marketing Help Center

January 27, 2009 0

San Francisco — Recently there has been a lot of chatter about hope and change as a new president has come to office. Yahoo! Search Marketing has updated its help center. While this enhancement possibly can not be coupled to Carol Bartz’s arrival, although search marketers can at least take it as a good sign.

While the enhancement do not create history, but they can optimistically improve your advertiser experience. The Help Center is the place to turn first for any questions you have on using your account or its features. Our updates should make this task simpler and faster than ever. Changes that can specifically help improve your account performance are as follows:

  • Better organization and easier navigation
  • Stronger search functionality
  • Links to related information available
  • Single Page FAQ

You should now be able to find the information you need in fewer clicks, as we’ve pared down the number of indexes that we previously had. From the front page of the Help Center, you will find four main sections:

The updated site’s emphasis seems to be on ease of use.  Four section headings on the front page — all offers some decent starting points for users.  Lists of subjects beneath them then give some better guides.

  • Advertise Online with Yahoo!: This section outlines the account sign-up process for prospective advertisers.
  • Managing Your Account: This helps walk existing advertisers through the campaign creation process.
  • Fine-Tune Your Account: Advertisers ready to manage their account to a higher level of performance can mine this section for info on optimization features and general strategies for managing to specific business objectives or by industry.
  • Learn Online: A repository for all training materials, tutorials, webinars and webinar summaries, and general education material to help raise your advertiser IQ.

Furthermore, Yahoo mentioned that it has improved the site’s search function. Since any problems on this front would be a cause for extreme embarrassment, this upgrade – however small – is quite important.

Finally, as Jeff Hecox wrote on the Yahoo Search Marketing Blog, “We have made a huge effort to provide links to related information available within the Help Center, but also articles from this blog and content from the in-application help.  So, if you want to take a deeper dive into a topic, we will be able to provide a diving board.”
