April 15, 2011 0

Los Angeles — Microblogging chatter Twitter is one of those tools that is especially cool when used on your mobile phone. Today, Tapbots highly anticipated Twitter client for iPhone dubbed as Tweetbot, has arrived on the App Store, bringing a level of polish that Pixar would be jealous of.

The application is bundled with a bunch of new gestures which are impressive and responsive. TweetBot offers the typical handful of nifty Twitter features, such as support for uploading media to a variety of services, multiple accounts, saving drafts, sending links to Instapaper and Read Later, viewing conversations, and participating in all manner of Twitter tomfoolery.

What makes TweetBot unique are some of the handy features unavailable on other apps. TweetBot for iPhone offers a dynamic User Interface with proper optimization for the retina display of iPhone 4.

For instance, with TweetBot, a user can press down on a tweet to access a menu full of useful features like posting a link to it, copying it, emailing it, or translating it. The gestures include single tap, double tap, triple tap, slide from left to right, slide from right to left, swipe down to refresh, pop menu at the bottom, and so on. The crystal sound that it creates on each tap makes the application a worth buy.

TweetBot has been rubbed and refined at the hands of Paul and Mark, the creators of all of the ‘bots in Tapbots line of iPhone apps. In addition to an impressive design and level of finish, Tweetbot features four unique ideas that set it apart from other iPhone apps.

Here are some highlights of the application:

  • Multiple Timelines: Quickly switch between your lists as your main timeline.

  • Smart Gestures: Use Twitter more efficiently with time-saving and configurable gestures.

  • Customizable Navigation: The last 2 tabs are customizable and unused tabs are easily accessible.

  • Support for multiple services like Read it Later, Instapaper, Cloudapp URL Shortening.

  • Push Notifications via Boxcar.

  • Save drafts, add locations and POI’s, attach photos and videos, manage your lists, and much more.

Other Limitations:

  • The application does not support push notifications directly.

  • There is no landscape support for typing etc.

  • There is no Twitlonger integration i.e you cannot exceed 140 character limit if you are using Tweetbot app.

Overall it is the best twitter client that has opened the opportunities for developers to implement the similar UI in their application. Much of the client works the same way that the stock Twitter app does. In other words, it is yet another revolution since the launch of the first twitter client. Pull-to-refresh, slide down option panels and a visible break between old and new tweets are a few familiar cues. What it does do is add some very useful tweaks and present those in a luxuriously designed interface.

So let the Twitter re-addiction begin–Grab it now! TweetBot for iPhone is available in the App Store for iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4.1 or later at a price of $1.99.
