TWEET VIA MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS ON ANDROID

July 18, 2011 0

Twitter is now back and this time its with an update which many Twitter users wanted and were eagerly waiting for. Multiple accounts of Twitter for Android users is now available and additionally it even gives the option of push notifications. Where Twitter has not lost its second position in case of being popular among the social masses, it has still lost to Google+ as +1 button is much more clicked as compared to the Tweet buttons. iPhone app users of Twitter already had been availing this service but Android users have got this support of late and it could prove to be a good step for Twitter. This would surely help strengthen Twitter’s position but to what extent is what one would like to see.

This service would help users to move from one Twitter account to another and back and there is no need to log out from any of these accounts. iPhone users have been enjoying the push service for quite some time now and now when Android users are even availing to the similar service, it would be important to see what real benefit android users get out of it. The reason is that android’s twitter app already has notifications displayed in the bar where notifications are displayed.

Push notifications would be majorly appreciated by the users who like to get quickest of all updates on receiving a tweet or receiving a @reply. There is even an option through which a user can select as to for which services they want to get the push notifications and for which they don’t want to get the notifications. There is again a feature which is of the ‘Automatic Refresh’. This feature can be even selected from the settings which would help the users to get an update actively viz Twitter even when they are using a non-Twitter application. But for the marginal Twitter user, it will not benefit majorly.

Talking about the multiple accounts, this will have a good impact and would get the desired appreciation for sure. This is because there are many people who have multiple accounts. Moreover when someone is out and a friend wants to access to their Twitter account on someone else’s android, it would be quite helpful. There is a higher possibility of the latter help being useful. Twitter has even made a few changes for the widget on the home screen.

Twitter’s web application, Twitter.com still has no such provision. It makes one wonder as to how much importance Twitter developers have given to finding ways to ease access to Twitter for iPhone and Android user but haven’t thought of any such thing for the web users. Twitter has in fact benefited the third parties majorly with this as they would earn a lot with the sales of this applications. But one never knows, maybe a similar update is on its way for the web users too in sometime.

This recently launched application for Twitter can be downloaded by anyone from the Android Market and its available for download for free.
