SHOOT THAT TWEET!

August 9, 2011 0

All the world and his brother is on Twitter telling everybody what they have been doing and what they think, oblivious to the interest of the readers. If you are one of those who is irked by the tweets which are floating around you now have an option of venting your ire in a very effective yet harmless way – Tweet Hunt.

An app developed by Apple for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, Tweet Hunt is a shooting gallery where you use a slingshot to aim and shoot flying birds that represent a real tweet that someone thought was important enough to share with the world.

You can tweet hunt in four modes –

Classic – a free app and lets you attack trending topics like ‘#Whyareyou’ or any other which is the flavor of the moment. When you shoot enough tweets, you advance to the next level. If you find yourself in a tight spot, you can shoot Twitter’s ‘Fail Whale’, which eliminates all the birds on the screen.

Celebirdies – grants you the extra satisfaction of shooting tweets of famous Twitters like @Sn00ki, @ConanObrien, @ParisHilton, @CharlieSheen, @aplusk (Ashton Kutcher), @KatyPerry and many more. However, before you get access to the celebrities, you will have to get through their followers first. With the points you earn, you can unlock more celebrities for hunting.

My Tweep – in which you can hunt your own timeline of tweets by the people you follow.
Practice – wherein as the name suggests, you sharpen your accuracy and hone your skills.

The game which is enslaving in nature brings to life insipid Tweets and as they are dying, when you shoot them, the birds use their last breath to mutter their 140 characters or less.

The app which is compatible with iPhone 3Gs, iPhone4, iPod Touch – 3G and iPad, requires iOS 4.0 or later and is available at the App Store. For infrequent and mild cartoon or fantasy violence and profanity or crude humor, the app is rated for 9+ years.

To download the app and use it you do not need a Twitter account except for the My Tweets mode. The gameplay requires an active Internet connection and content filtering is available in game options.

Using a simple but well-executed gaming concept, Tweet Hunt manages to raise the difficulty bar as you make your way up through the various levels. A fun way to spend time, Tweet Hunt is an alternative for gamers who are tired of Angry Birds as also for those who are annoyed with ‘self-important’ Tweets.
