It is difficult to predict how many handset users would favor the Bing search over Google, but the news of the refurbished release should certainly appeal to fans of the Google Search system, as the tech giant released the updated application for the Mango OS.
According to All About Windows Phone, the Windows Phone marketplace touts more than 70,000 apps available, as of February 26, 2012. Besides, Google just added one more to the mix. This should enable easy internet searches for owners of handsets operating on the Mango OS.
Google has committed towards improving its latest offering by incorporating certain features which should ensure faster results when launching a search. The new app features Google’s AutoComplete attribute which boasts of coming up with predictions that match the required search, more often than not and My Location, which lets you enter in your current location and search for places and businesses nearby.
My Location, if you are not aware, which is pretty handy when customers are looking for nearby places. It employs the device’s location feature that informs Google your location so it can provide results regarding the nearest places in any category requested by users. For instance, if you are searching for “mexican food,” you should get results showing Meixcan restaurants in your general vicinity.
The company claims that these results often match the desired search phrase. However, this attribute works only when the required permissions are granted.
Apart from these nifty features, the company has bundled a Voice Search function in its array of improvements for this revamped application. The voice feature that makes it even easier for individuals to scour the internet at a quicker pace, completely eliminating the typing bit, without it affecting their usage. All they need to do is touch the microphone icon and speak out the query to start searching.
Additionally, this service has already been available across various smartphone platforms like BlackBerry, iOS and of course, Android. Though all the features are pretty standard, but for users of other platforms it is probably things being taken mostly for granted, but today’s release shows that Google has not forgotten the Windows Phone platform completely.
