PINTEREST HITS THE TABLET ZONE; OUT FOR IPAD

March 14, 2012 0

Pinterest is growing, or rather flourishing at a lightning speed. The only complain users had, was that there was no app for the same on the iPad or Android platform. They only have an iPhone app. Some good news in this perspective. Pinterest’s iPad app is live and kicking. However, the Android users still have to wait.

Pinterest, basically is a web based social bookmarking service, which has helped a number of small businesses grow. Ben Silbermann, one of the founders of Pinterest said in an interview with the New York Times, noting that their team is working on bringing Pinterest to the iPad. The same article had Nielson noting that the primary users of Pinterest are those people who shop online frequently.

About Pinterest, the company is located in Palo Alto, California and has currently hired only 20 people. Noting this, it is no less than an achievement that the company has already pushed in an iPhone app. This all makes sense that if the company opts for an iPad app before jumping in to make an Android app. This is because the existing employees have already coded the same for the iOS platform.

Again, coding for Android would consume a considerable amount of time, as the employees need to be familiar with the understanding of Android. Teaching the existing employees or hiring new employees immediately, might not be a wise decision to make.

Pinterest is familiar to users in a related territory too, which is Facebook. Facebook users can use Pinterest as an app on both, desktop and mobile. Earlier this year, Facebook released the Open Graph Applications, and one of them is Pinterest.

If a user is still ignorant about the Pinterest connection on Facebook, they can note that the Pinterest app is tied directly in to a user’s timeline, which is then stored as a box on the timeline. However, to use the rich features of the app, a user will have to allow Pinterest access to their profiles.

This move from Pinterest is not just helping the team to grown and advertise itself, but it even eases the functionality of the users to make note of a lot of information about its users.

If a new user signs up for Facebook, the Pinterest app will automatically make that user a follower of all his / her Facebook friends, who are on Pinterest.

Talking about the mobile platform out of Facebook, iPad app is being appreciated by many.
