NO MORE PANDA THIS YEAR: GOOGLE

December 16, 2011 0

Google team can surprise everyone and yet again they have proved the same. However, here is one surprise the tech world will be happy to some extent. Google formally made an announcement via Twitter that there will be no more Panda updates for the remainder of the year. Agreed there is not much time left for the year to end, but another panda update, before the year ends, could have ruined a number of Christmas and New Year celebrations, all over the world. Search engine giant had an interesting image of the Christmas Panda, as posted here.

Google has smartly quoted a tweet, which would help many people feel relaxed. Even though they know the fact that the last known Panda update happened nearly a month ago. But still, one could have expected the Panda to get in yet again. May be some of the clean site owners, would be hoping even for a Panda update. This is because site owners make an extra effort to keep content clean and to do it on a regular basis.

But it has been decided. One would not see a Panda making rounds until next year. So, for most of the users, it will be a happy Christmas time. One can assume it to be a Christmas gift from Google, but it cannot be assumed to be a long time gift. Expectedly, Google will not further delay the Panda update, and the year might start with a number of ups and downs.

At SearchEngineRoundtable, Barry Schwartz made a few comments on the discussion table, which noted that Google probably is not of the view to repeat whole new fiasco of the Florida update. He even noted that online retailers kind of got the shaft due to an unexpected algorithm change years ago.

That is true to some extent, as one had seen that whenever there is a Panda update, many popular sites find only dust, while a few not so popular ones move out of the no-man’s land.

However, the screenshot of the image is posted below:

Detailing about the Panda, Google has tried to tell site owners, what they should do and what not, via its Panda updates. Everything has been said openly and adding to the same, it recently expressed its goal to be more transparent about algorithm updates in general.

The last update, that came out was on November 18th, but was a minor one, which did not really affect many sites. So, it can be expected that the next update might be a bomb, which Google wants to explode only in the next year.

Its like, Google’s soothing the possible burns in the next year.

However, here is a list detailed by Search Engine Land, which notes the Panda update schedule, which has been tracked by them and correspondingly, it has been confirmed by Google.
