Bradley Horowitz, Google+ VP of Product has opted to tweet about a new feature which would be on Google+. The new feature is ‘Suggested User’. This feature has been up and many users are already looking out for further detailing on this feature. Robert Scoble, a heavy Google+ user wrote that the suggested user list has already been turned on by Google+. The list can be seen by any user once they sign in to Google+. Robert even wrote, “My look at this list? It’s of active people. Looks a little algorithmic and a little human chosen. It’s an improvement over previous suggestions, At least it’s not suggesting users who don’t put anything into Google+.”
The Twitter platform however was used by Bradley who tweeted about the new mechanism they were adopting for Google+. He called out for those Twitter user who have more than 100k followers on Twitter. He again had a following tweet which was a reply to Gord McLeod, wherein Bradley said that he wasn’t basing it on any specific thing and was just open to talking as well as learning from the top users on Twitter. The reason for this could be to help users in discovering new thoughts to keep using Google+.
Google+ has even been working out to becoming more brand friendly as it is verifying profiles of not only celebrities and public figures, but even those people who have been added to an (undefined) ‘large’ number of Circles. This even raises doubts on which all categories would be included in the suggested user list. it would however be interesting how the search engine giant plans to go about this list. the approach has been on a large scale as Twitter top users are being roped in by Google+ for its promotion. It makes one think as to would they even plan to get other social networking popular users even on their social networking site or no. Bradley have even noted that Google has a few ‘amazing ideas around context-specific relevance’ which would be adopted for recommendations.
The option used by Bradley can have a positive response as he had encouraged Twitter’s ‘100k+ followers’ users to directly get in touch with him via a direct message so that there could be a private chat on the testing process. This could even mean that these users could get a direct entry to the ‘verified’ or branded profile list on Google+. However, no more detailing was available which leaves the thoughts hanging in the air, till the feature is actually out for their social networking site.
Talking about the ‘suggested user list’, Twitter had a similar outing in the past, but it turned out to be just controversial and had a number of negative feedbacks. In case of Google+, Bradley had assured that they would not only look into the follower count, but would be more than that.
Google+ is still in its beta stage, but attempts made to make it popular are more like desperate moves to click the switch right. Earlier even their YouTube Hangouts feature was loud in its approach.
