This week, Facebook had two new apps for its users wherein the brand attached were Top Gear and Hollywood studio Miramax. With Top Gear, one would now be able to watch the car-show directly on their PCs and laptops. Miramax have even posted few selected indie classic movies along with a countable new ones via its new app on Facebook.
The first of these two apps is the Top Gear app which for now, includes the Polar Special episode. In the said episode, one would see japesters of Top Gear such as Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson taking part in the Magnetic North Pole’s epic race. Later on, one would be able to view many other videos as they would have to check out for the videos which “contain imitative behavior”. Talking about the cost, the videos here cost 15 Facebook credits (94p). the time frame for watching this video is 48 hours which is the renting period. During this time frame, one can watch the video any number of times.
However, for the petrol-headed smuggos and classic movie lovers, there is another app which is out by Miramax. The company has not restricted this app to just Facebook, but Google TV and iPad users can even watch it on their respective platforms in the U.S. The movie collection posted for now is of 20 movies which include classics such as Clerks, Swingers, Gangs of New York and Pulp Fiction. There is even an inclusion of a few new titles such as The Switch, No Country For Old Men and Adventureland. Gone Baby Gone is one classic which would not be known by many, but is worth the credits one uses for it.
Miramax has not included just the movies in its app, but one can even notice that this app has an addition of a quiz game. Additionally, to help users to not to get confused, one can look out for its FAQ. It says, “Am I really casting my friend in a Miramax film when playing the game? No, this game is for entertainment purposes only and allows you to match your friend’s personality with certain characters from Miramax films.” This might just clear the air for the users.
Miramax blogged that they have well stoned faith in the social networking site and this could be the start for many more collaborations in the future between the two.
Miramax App software is free for one to install and then one can keep browsing for the selected movie list. After browsing through the list, one can select their preferred movie and they would get access to a brief of the movie along with a short clip which they can watch then and there. If they like it, they can purchase it. This is more of a serious movie watching experience as they would be rented out for 30 Facebook credits (£1.88). the users would get a time frame of thirty days for the viewing of the movie, after which it has to be ‘returned’. However, once the movie is started, it has to be completed within 48 hours. As compared to other streaming services, the quality of video offered here is much better.
