August 19, 2011 0

There was an announcement made by the search engine giant today that there has been an update for the iPhone app of Google search. This new version is 0.9.0.7005. In brief, the app has additions such as Google Instant Pages, Improved help screen and New way to switch between Web, Images, Places and more. It has even fixed those minor bugs which had been frustrating the iPhone users. However, it has even removed an important user element which is Calendar alerts.

To note this new version, Instant Pages is a golden addition from Google which would make many users happy who do not actually use Google Chrome. Google had announced this speedy feature in June for Chrome users. This feature could load usually the top results along with a few other important results which could be of help to the users. The basic element here was that a query maker on Google search would waste no time in loading the top results and it had a significant effect on one’s time saving.

The procedure of the ‘Instant Pages’ feature is simple as the loading of the result pages would be done way before the user clicks on it. That is the reason of its instant loading. Google had even launched a new version of it for Chrome which proved to be quite helpful for those users who search on Google Chrome via their mobile devices. This was because usually search on mobile takes a lot of time and it was therefore quite beneficial. There are however a few issues relating to analytics which are for Instant Pages.

The addition to this version even includes My Location, Voice Search and Google Goggles which would enrich one’s iPhone experience. Google Goggles is a feature which is widely used by many a users to recognize relevant searches with the help of Image recognition technology. It is an effective addition which would keep iPhone cameras engaged. Voice search is another interesting addition which would help a user speak out their search on iPhone. Languages which are currently supported are Zulu, Turkish, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (Simplified and Traditional), Cantonese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Indian, Australian or South African English accents and Afrikaans along with the basic British and American English accents ‘My location’ feature would help a user in viewing customized results for where they are. This feature would even help users in finding places which are nearby and interestingly one need not type their current location.

Other miscellaneous features are as under:

-Other products of Google would even have easy access for iPhone users as Voice from the Apps tab, Gmail and Maps.

-Contact search which helps in finding address book contacts quickly.

-Search history would help a user in accessing previous searches instantly.

-URL suggestions would help in navigating through the popular websites without wasting valuable time. One can just tap in the web address suggestions.

-Google Suggest is for getting suggestions as and when one types in for a search.

Google of late has worked on many other apple apps which is yet to be incorporated for the Android-Powered devices. Google Catalog app is yet another example which has been out only for iPhone users.
