Next Tuesday, one would see Apple’s iPhone event being held at its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters. An e-mail was sent to a few selected reporters by Apple, earlier today, which noted that the even would being at 10 a.m. PT next week with an “executive presentation.” There were a number of rumors surrounding the event, which said that the event would have Apple unveiling its next iPhone.
Rumors related to iPhone 5 have been swirling for months now and Apple has finally planned to kill these rumors by announcing that the event would have Apple detailing about iPhone 5. Apple had shown off a new version of its popular smartphone at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June in the earlier years, but this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the new iPhone was missing. This gave rise to rumor mill as many prompted that iPhone 5 would see its launch in September or October. This rumor however, was a well assumed one as the details in regards to the iPhone 5 would be out in the next week.
All Things Digital had reported last week that Apple would hold a special event on October 4 and the event would be led by their new CEO Tim Cook. ATD had cited sources to publish this news and according to the said sources, the new iPhone would go on sale “within a few weeks” after the announcement. It pegged the release to be anywhere around late October.
For the event, its still unclear what will be detailed about the iPhone. Would it be just a few minor upgrades or will it have some unseen features. Its predecessor, the iPhone 4 has been strong in the market and has a number of inspiring features. To make iPhone 5 much better than 4, would definitely be an uphill task. There are a few yet-again rumored features, which can potentially have 4G connectivity, an edge-to-edge display, and several other major improvements.
For the event, the confusion even has been surrounded over the number of iPhones, which will be demoed. Earlier, it was rumored that a single iPhone would be showed off, but later on J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz stated that he is expecting the tech giant Apple to launch two new smartphones this year. U.S. Vice President had mutual thoughts as that of Moskowitz. It now looks like there can be two iPhones up for demo as Apple board member Al Gore had hinted last week that Apple was readying two iPhones. He said, “Not to mention the new iPhones coming out next month,” during the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit in South Africa.
This event would be new Apple CEO Tim Cook’s first big product introduction. Cook is expected to be the main presenter at this event and other events to follow too as he did his predecessor, and as Steve Jobs’s right-hand man and chosen successor. There is no update on Jobs availability in the event.
Apart from the iPhone, Apple is likely to brief details on iOS and its cloud-based service, iCloud.
