GOOGLE UPDATES MOBILE GOOGLE DOCS

July 8, 2011 0

If you are a Google Docs user on the mobile phone or tablet, then this will come as a cheering news for you.

Focussing on the Google Docs’ collaboration feature, a Google Mobile Blog posted on Thursday, “Google Docs is about sharing, but as many of us know, others often rely on us even when we’re nowhere near a computer. That’s why we’re excited to bring the features you need to your tablet and mobile device’s browser. Today, we’ve updated the look of Google Docs for mobile browsers and added the ability to sort, narrow, and share multiple docs in your mobile docs list.”

Cnet blog posted, “This makes it easier for the tool’s users to share multiple documents and sort spreadsheets, text docs, presentations, PDFs and drawings you create online.”

Jessica Dolcourt of Cnet explains, “Log in from any mobile browser and you’ll immediately see two drop-down categories on the navigation bar. One sorts documents by name, modification date, and the date you last opened it. The other filters gargantuan lists by documents you own, have starred as important, or are part of a collection. You can also filter by document type.

Any time you select one or more of those docs, you’ll see the Share button appear on the bottom of the screen. You’ll be able to then e-mail the file as an attachment or as a link, or copy the link.

As the Cnet blog says, “All these are small but useful additions to the on-line version that make for a smoother viewing and using experience from a condensed mobile screen.”
