GOOGLE SEARCH ON ANDROID GETS AN UPDATE

January 12, 2012 0

Google Search for Android has got a ‘speedy’ update. If one is using Google Search on Android 2.2 or higher, they will be able to make use of the search engine on their devices in a much faster and easier way.

From Google’s perspective, there are a number of things, one should note about this upgrade. They are as follows:

  • Faster, smoother performance, with an updated and simplified user interface.

  • Suggestions for your search grouped by type, with web suggestions at the top.

  • Country-specific suggestions and search results for all countries with Google domains.

  • Long press to remove history items.

There is more to know. One can simply click on to the right of a search suggestion or history item, which will allow them to add the same to their search terms, before they make actual use of the term. A user even has an option to get suggestions from other apps on their phone.

To add the Google Search widget, one can long press on home screen.

One can assume that after Google displayed its amazing Google Search app on the new Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it was bound to let other users even make use of the same. After all, the search engine is the basis of Google’s business and longevity.

Users of other versions, would have even wanted to try their hands on this new update of the search engine on their devices. This can be one of the many reasons, because of which Google introduced the same upgrade for its other versions too.

Google has been steady in updating its apps and has been pushing the same at the earliest, so that the users can make use of the same. Definitely, Google’s efforts are more convincing from the point that it wants to extend its reach to everyone, so that users make use of Google’s products everywhere.

However, the said app’s ‘Whats new’ section noted the following:

  1. New color scheme and simplified UI

  2. Faster

  3. Enhanced suggestions and query editing

  4. Better localized suggestions and search results for more countries

  5. Long press on history items to remove them

If one has not yet got the app on their devices, here is a download link to the same.
