San Francisco — If you are religiously using Google AdWords Editor, then you are sure to have observed a few new whistles and bells. Google has released a new version of its AdWords Editor, a desktop application for managing AdWords campaigns now along with some new features to look forward to.
Google has added new features for importing CSV files, which saves time, and provides better Keyword Opportunities. Google says this was requested by many advetisers.
For instance, advertisers can now import CSV files. Users who make changes to their accounts in a spreadsheet or custom application can import their spreadsheet directly into AdWords Editor, then post new or edited items.
Version 7.5.1 (for both Windows and Mac) includes the following upgrades and users may now do the following:
CSV Import: If you make changes to your account in a spreadsheet or a custom application, you can now import your spreadsheet directly into AdWords Editor, then post your new or edited items.
Work with selected campaigns: This function enables you to choose which campaign(s) to download and edit. You no longer have to suffer long waits while your entire account downloads. Just select the campaigns you wish to download and go about your business. Check here for detailed description for adding a new account, downloading updates, changing campaigns you have downloaded, or downloading everything (full account).
Improvements to Keyword Opportunities Tool: “Keyword Opportunities” features has been updated with columns are now included when you export or copy keywords; terms can also be added to accounts as either keywords, negative keywords or negative keywords at the campaign level. You can now sort by topical category.
The changes are aimed at making it easier to manage your keyword data. Austin Rachlin of Google’s Inside AdWords Crew explains:
On the “Search-based keywords” tab (the AdWords Editor version of the Search-based Keyword Tool) you can now view and organize new keywords by topical category, letting you zero in quickly on the keywords that are most relevant to your account. Also, when you export or copy keywords, the Keyword Opportunities columns (such as Volume and Competition) are now included. As another response to advertisers’ requests, you can now add terms to your account as either keywords, negative keywords, or campaign negative keywords.
Also you can change languages to any of the following new ones: Thai, Arabic, Romanian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Greek, Vietnamese, Bulgarian, Croatian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Slovak, Filipino, Slovenian, Serbian, Catalan, Latvian, Ukranian, and Hindi.
Clients already using AdWords Editor will be prompted to upgrade to Version 7.5.1 automatically. Select “Update without Backup” in the auto-update prompt in order to convert existing accounts to the new version.
Those that do not already use AdWords Editor may download or read more about it.
