Google Released AdWords Editor 7.0–Ready For Download

December 19, 2008 0

Mountain View, Calif

., — Search engine goliath Google’s continuous efforts in keeping its cash-cow alive as ever, has recently released an upgraded

version of their AdWords Editor 7.0

, which mainly focuses on providing advertisers with campaign critical metrics, is now available for download.

The previous version of AdWords editor was 6.5.1. This version 7.0 of AdWords editor has been released barely 2 months after the last major upgrade released in Oct 2008.

When you open AdWords Editor you should be prompted with the upgrade screen automatically. So, before start upgrading, you can easily checkout which version of AdWords editor you are currently using by opening AdWords Editor, then view Help/About AdWords Editor.

This latest upgrade covers the following areas, and the release notes document many of the changes, there are some notable improvements to AdWords Editor 7.0 that includes:

First Page Bid Estimates: AdWords Editor now uses first page bid estimates for your keywords. With this release, the first page bid estimation is nearly the max (CPC) bid it would supposedly take for your ad to be shown on the first page of Google results. The earlier minimum cost-per-click (CPC) bids are no longer used.
Keyword Quality Score: The Keywords tab now displays the Quality Score for your keywords. This tab will now display a number from 1 through 10, with 1 through 4 being Poor, 5 through 7 being OK, and 8 through 10 being Great. And for those interested in exploring further, there is a big help article on how AdWords calculates Quality Score.
Keyword Opportunities Locale: The keyword opportunities tool, still in BETA, now AdWords Editor 7.0 can customize your keyword suggestions to a specific language and location by changing your Keyword Opportunities locale. You can modify the Keyword Opportunities locale used for the results by clicking the very small blue “Edit” link that appears at the very upper right of the Keyword Opportunities tool window.
Campaign Targeting In The Data View: You can now view your campaigns targeting settings in the new “Language” and “Location” columns on the Campaigns tab. These columns are hidden by default; however you can select them with the column chooser.

The “Volume” column on the Keyword Expansion tab now shows “absolute numbers” rather than the odd measured values previously seen. The numbers supposedly reflect the traffic for the last month.

Send Feedback To Google: Help us improve AdWords Editor by enabling usage tracking in your AdWords Editor settings (Tools menu > Settings).

The Keyword Opportunities tool is not available for draft accounts.

Advertisers will welcome the latest upgrade, as the more useful metrics included in the editor, the easier it is for them to make informed decisions and changes with their campaigns.

AdWords Editor 7.0 is about 16.6 Megs in size and should take about 2-5 minutes to download over any high speed internet connection. For a complete glance over of the Version 7.0 upgrade, head over to the AdWords Editor site.
