‘GOOGLE OFFERS’ JUMP VOUCHER SALES; REVENUE GROWS

September 26, 2011 0

Google of late was assumed to be tensed with poor revenue generation from Google Offers, which was reported to be below par. The results posted were related to the month of August. However, for the September month, things seem to turn around for Google offers. The voucher sales have increased and with it the revenue per deal has even been on the higher side. The revenue growth is almost double as it has surpassed its August revenue by 84%, even before the month has ended.

The revenue growth can even be credited to some extent to the expansion of Google Offers in new markets. For the comparison, in August, the revenue generated was $265,000 as against in September, the revenue generation has been $488,000 in the first twenty one days. Out of the $488,000, $103,000 has been earned out of the new markets. Yipit had reported the growth of Offers with a few stats.

As for the competition, Groupon and LivingSocial may still be way ahead of Google Offers, but Offers is still closing the gap in the market with its competitors. Yipit reported that Google Offers’ catching up act seems to be working good for the time being, but it will still have to work hard as it not only has to worry about the big names in the ‘deals’ field, but will have to even compete against others who have a decent market share.

But looking at the progress, its all good for Google as its moving up the graph in the early stages and has to basically build on the work done. However, its still too early to draw definitive long-term conclusions as the data is available for only a few months.

Google Offers has had a few decent successful orders, which have proved lucrative and buyers have been interested in buying those vouchers too, but its most successful offer to date had featured tickets to the Museum of Natural History in New York. It proved to be a success as it grossed $85,000. Yipit however notes that the considerable amount of success Google is enjoying is because of its dealing with the high profile national and local brands, such as Fandango.

Google has even acquired DailyDeals, which could prove to be a helpful expansion as DailyDeals has been successful in its areas of operation. However, it was not the only service which was acquired by Google for its Offers. Zave Networks, The Dealmap, and Punchd has even been acquired by Google and would help in strengthening Offers. Moreover, Google even plans to integrate it further with Google Wallet in future, as it gains more mainstream adoption.

Google Offers has been available in many cities which include Portland, New York City, the Bay Area, Austin, Boston and a few more. It is being reported that Offers would expand its base yet again in the coming future to Atlanta, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Fort Worth, Houston, Indianapolis, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Diego, San Jose, St. Louis, and St. Paul.
