Google Introduces 2 New Coupon Templates For AdWords

Mountain View, California — While the use of coupons in stores are incredibly becoming popular these days, online is seeing its fair share, too. In fact, retailers in the online world are finding online coupons to be more influential promotional tools. And now to tap this consumers click, Google has released two new display ad templates that enables you to easily create creative online coupons to run on sites across the Google AdWords.

Consumers these days are not simply collecting coupons, they are clicking them, too. So now you can probably understand why coupon-based promotions might be so effective these days, and display ads enables you to add in eye-catching ad copy, coupon codes, and customized color schemes that would not be possible with simple text ads.

Now the release of two new display ad templates that can be accessed via “Display Ad Builder,” advertisers can insert prominently displayed money-off messages and even include coupon codes for better tracking.

“We see the display ad builder as a great creative sandbox, enabling us to quickly test and perform with new ad formats and capabilities that simple text ads can not offer,” commented Danny Huynh, Associate Search Director of top digital ad agency, Razorfish, on the AdWords blog.

“Each of our new templates has a prominent slot for featuring a price or a discount, e.g., “20% off,” and has broad area for coupon codes,” explains Christian Yee from Google’s Inside AdWords Crew. “As with any of our other templates, you can easily edit your ads on an ongoing basis to change the discount level, prices and any other customizable aspect.”

“The coupon templates in particular are allowing us to bring the messages from our customers’ offline circulars, to the online world, at scale with Google’s content network. We are planning to test display ad builder templates on an ongoing basis,” Huynh said.

Editings will have to be kept on hold until Google reviews it before they can go into effect, but that generally only takes from 2 to 4 business days.

Advertisers who wish to utilize these new templates just need to:

  • Log in to their AdWords Account
  • Choose the Display Ad Builder format option on any ad group
  • Choose Retail category to find the coupon templates
