GOOGLE+ INSPIRES NEW YEAR HANGOUT SESSION

December 27, 2011 0

Google+ Hangouts are in news, yet again. Yesterday the Muppets were On Air and today the news is that Singer songwriter Daria Musk will be hanging on to the Hangouts. Daria will be hosting a worldwide Google+ On Air Hangout to ring in the New Year. It seems Google’s efforts are finally paying off. Business promotions, presentations and family get togethers are on the rise, using the Hangouts platform.

However, this move from Daria is yet another horizon, which can be noted by users and thus make use of this unique product of Google in the best possible way.

Google+ is still raw but it seems the search engine giant has worked on each and every product and service of it, to ensure that things don’t really fall apart on the popularity and activeness basis, as like what happened with Orkut.

Talking about this update, Daria pitched her idea in a Google+ update as follows:

1. I host a Hangouts-On-Air broadcast ’round the clock on New Years Eve.
2. You join from around the world at midnight in your time zone!!
3. Add yourself to this Google Doc: http://bit.ly/tjK5sH.

Daria would further use another Google service to categorize or rather segregate sessions. She will make use of Google Doc to organize who will join at what times, and to create circles for each time zone.

With this session, she in fact seems to be trying to collaborate efforts of users and to help them enjoy the celebrations from all over the world, so that people can see what is going on at other places, while they can even display their own New Year celebrations, which is taking place in their surroundings.

She wrote, “We can’t show the celebrations on TV, who needs TV when you’ve got friends around the world to celebrate with!?” Further she emphasized on noting the celebrations taking place all over the world as she continued, “So it will be extra cool if you live somewhere where you can show us some fireworks or festivities in your city!! In the Google Doc you can fill in your ideas for what you can show us!”

Apparently, it seems the response she has got already is pretty strong, which can be noted as per the indications she made in a follow-up post.

However, it would be interesting to note, as to how many people miss out on the celebrations to be a part of this particular hangout, and how many use the on-the-go option to show off the celebrations taking place in their surroundings.

This effort from Daria is an optimizing effort, which will help and inspire a number of Google+ users to make optimized use of Hangouts.
