The working for this feature is even quite simple. Firstly, one has to update their Google Goggles app. Launch it. Then tap on the ‘Menu’ option. Once there, one has to click on settings and go ahead and enable Search from Camera.
After enabling the ‘Search from Camera’ option, one can at any point of time click a snap from their Android camera and Goggles would start hunting for identifiable landmarks, paintings, or other interesting objects, and it would notify the user of its findings. Moreover, as it is done in the background, there is no additional trouble one goes through with the processing. The hassle of typing in one’s search is removed.
One can even come to know about what businesses are there in the nearby areas. This can be done by pointing out one’s phone to a particular store. For this, the visual search history has to be turned on and when the search is done with, it can be turned off. Google Goggles search findings can even be shared which are placed in the Google Goggles search history.
For those who are not familiar with Goggles, the app has previously helped in taking photos of real-life objects, scenes, buildings or other items and make a search out of them. For this search, Google would perform it on its own and come up with its search results from the web for content relevant to the photo one had clicked.
In a blog post, Google software engineer Pavel Vodenski explained that if he goes on a vacation, opting only for his Android-powered phone as his primary camera, Google Goggles would be quite helpful to him as he would be able to identify landmarks, paintings and other interesting objects in the photos he clicks in there. Again, as sharing seems to be easy, he would even share them to his friends, detailing them about his vacation facts.
This would even setup an easy riding task for those who have to go through the Google images with a query, as they can just click on a snap and they would get all the information on their mobile devices such as information on books, landmarks, artwork, businesses and products.
The languages it recognize are English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish words and allow you to translate into other languages. Google Goggles with this update might just become a part of the default mobile experience for a user as the application has been integrated with a few unique features in it.
This new update of Google Goggles is available for Android 2.1 and newer devices.
