GOOGLE+ GLITCHES ITS WAY ON IPHONES

July 23, 2011 0

Google+ has grown and is still growing and the new app of Google+ in iPhones is already in the top free apps download list. Facebook however still in a dominating position for its app as it has more than 700 million users with whose support Facebook tops the most downloaded app list, but it faces a stiff competition from Google+ even in the app download list.

Google+ has been a bigger hit with the iPhone users while Android users have still not made extensive use of it on their androids. Apps for android and iPhone were launched on the same day but iPhone app downloads just raced away to the top while for android users, its currently at the eighth position where Google Maps tops the chart.

Talking about being different as compared to Facebook, Google+ does not make use of ‘Friend’ group names but it comes with the use of ‘Circles’. One definitely would feel it is easier as compared to the Facebook way as one can would get a better platform for sharing. One can say that the information shared would be with the right people. One might think that ‘Stream’ is more or less similar to a status share on Facebook but the addition feature of ‘Huddle’ is what differentiates it with Facebook. Using this feature, one can ensure group messaging to be fast and it is basically for those who want to just chat with their restricted circles.

iPhone users where really excited with this new app coming to their devices, but it was a short time excitement as it was followed by some disappointments. The complain list was long and the iPhone users sounded frustrated. Some of the main reasons were that IOS5 was not supported and that it was really slow.

This iPhone app was developed by Punit Soni who on Tuesday replied to all the problems faced via Google+. The first query was that one couldn’t be logged in for a longer frame of time for which Soni replied saying that for the time being no such problem was seen but however there is going to be one more round of testing which would be on iterate and Authentication. The next in the query list was that the app freezes. Replying to this query, Soni agreed that the app was seen to freeze where there are specific posts which have numerous comments on them and he assured that they are currently on it and a happier note was coming their way.

Crashing is a query which a few did face and one of the users claimed that it had crashed six times. Soni stated that crashing was mainly for IOS5 as for now there is no support for IOS5. He said that as they were posting here, working is still on this crashing issue for support. Shockingly there is no way one can share. Soni acknowledged the lack of this features and said that sharing feature on the whole is being worked on for not only iPhone but even Android. Its a soon to come up feature.

The complaint list was huge and many more might come up. These complaints can be assumed as the after effects of a quick run to the top for the Google+ app. But as it is growing, Google+ is bound to be criticized, but one cannot forget that it has achieve something which no one has and no one can presumably achieve i.e. getting 20 million users for Google+ within just three weeks. Not it has achieved something great, it should not be left and Google knows that this can be built on.
