Google is on an educating spree, with its back-to-back educational campaigns. Firstly, it is the “Google in Education” campaign, which is an integration of a number of education-related tools. The other campaign had Google Scoring Contract to bring 27,000 Chromebooks to Schools. So this session is a sheer dedication to those who want to feel educated, using the Google products.
Talking about the “Google in Education” campaign, the thought is to help users with continued educating process, so that they never really have to leave the classroom. There would be guest speakers, coming to campus to give talks on subjects ranging from fiction to physics.
Diverse groups will be created, helping groups of people to work together. This will initiate the ability to understand and solve big problems while groups of Googlers can engage in passionate debate in the cafeterias.
Google has an ascending flow of successes, when education programs are talked about, may it be for a primary school or a university. Along with it, there are even a number of suite of free and open tools, which are reaching out to classrooms and even families all over the world.
But, Google’s boasting in this case even, is quite disappointing. The blog post on the same notes Google stating, “Given this environment, it’s no surprise how highly we value our external work in education.” Here, Google might be saying that it focuses on education majorly, but the reality says a different story.
No doubt, Google has done a lot to help Googlers gain knowledge and be educated with a number of Google products, but it has never given it a priority. For most of the products and services, Google has either closed down related products and services, or it has been a paid product or service. There are still a few allowing users to reap the benefits to the maximum.
Not harping further, lets focus on this campaign. “Google in Education” is a compilation of a number of resources and lessons gathered together, wherein educators can learn a number of things , all at one place, wherever they may be. A booklet, titled “Google in Education: A New and Open World for Learning” highlights how people are using Google resources to enhance teaching and learning. This booklet does not focus on one’s typical annual report, but is a living document for educators to use year-round.
Along with it, the search engine giant has even revamped its website, google.com/edu, which is now to be a one-stop shop for teachers, students, parents and organizations to explore all of our offerings.
Again, for the same, one can even with their Google+ page, which is launched specifically for the said purpose. Here, everyone can stay updated with Google’s educational tools, products and programs, and join the conversation.
