In a company blog post, Google mentioned that users will now be able to effortlessly upload their documents from their own computers to the cloud by simply dragging and dropping the file into the program.
The company said: “Today we are extending that functionality to the file upload page, making it even easier to move your files into the cloud.”
Users can now drag and drop Word, Spreadsheet and Presentation files to share them — basic accounts is bundled with 1GB of storage; users can purchase additional storage here.
If you are Internet Explorer buff, then, you are out of luck. The drag and drop feature is only supported on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers, this feature lets the user to upload files and docs just by dragging and dropping them.
The Google Docs editor also received another small but welcome update, which is designed to save screen space. The Google Docs logo, the title bar and the links on top can, at times be distracting. With compact controls users will be able to hide the control bar by going to [View > Compact Controls or pressing Ctrl+Shift+F], the user can hide those, thus bringing online document editing experience a step closer to offline editing.
