The integration would allow IT administrators to turn on Google+ for their corporate employees manually. Following this step, workers can sign up at google.com/+. The availability for the same would be in a couple of days for those who use Google Apps for Business or the free version of Google Apps and who have set up their domain to automatically enable new services.
The service would come in automatically, but if Picasa and Google Talk are not enabled, then Google+ would not be available automatically. Reason being that Google+ requires Picasa Web Albums for photo sharing and Google Talk for chat. The new services can be enabled automatically by the Domain admins in the Domain settings tab of the admin control panel.
Google Apps users will be able to share publicly or privately with their circles like existing Google+ users. Additionally, even if some of those colleagues haven’t been added to a Circle, they’ll still be able to share posts with every worker in their company or member in their organization.
Google seems to be a long run planner as it had laid the groundwork for this integration in September, by launching Google+ Hangouts with extras. Out of the many extras, one mashes up multi-person video chat with screen sharing and collaboration in Google Docs, the web-based document applications suite in Google Apps.
Google in fact has given itself an opportunity to prove its competence to compete with the likes of Salesforce.com, Jive Software, Socialtext, MindTouch, Yammer and other social-collaboration service providers. These companies have web-based software platforms on the offering, which allows workers to create as well as edit documents, post status updates and share content in a private domain.
The search engine giant even makes it possible for the existing Google+ users, who even have a personal Google Account would have an upper hand in this case. The reason for the same is that they can use their Google Apps account through a migration tool. The basic thought here is to save the time of users, so that they do not have to rebuild their Circles. It even removes the tedious and cumbersome procedures, which users hate to repeat. It stands to be an additional advantage for the users to be directly connected to their old connections in the new profile.
Google has a number of efforts working on for its social networking site and it seems it has been improving its activeness in some way or the other. Apart from Google’s direct efforts, Google Senior Vice President Vic Gundotra even kept his promise of adding a few fun features to Google+. They have included the Google+ Creative Kit, in the spirit of Halloween, letting users edit their profile and other Google+ photos. These include Halloween effects.
