Los Angeles — It is rightly said that: ‘A picture is worth a thousand words!’ And continuing on the super-sizing highway to deliver new experience to its massive user base of more than 900 million, social media humongous Facebook has once again refurbished the look of its Photo service that began with the introduction of Timeline last year, and on Monday unveiled an enhanced image-viewing on your Timeline, as well as the Timeline of anyone’s profile you stumble upon.
As the company is attempting to prettify the look of Photos on your Timeline, the new appearance infused is as slick as thumbing through a glossy print magazine, one where you yourself in control of the layout. The new landing page is just an update of the old one: it has all of a Facebook user’s photos on one page, which Facebook friends can easily Like and comment on.
In fact, it is an impeccable match for the company’s Timeline aesthetic of highly visual tiles in varying sizes that correlate to the object’s actual importance in your life, (see larger image below).
Interestingly, the new pics format will let you gaze at yours’ and your friends’ images in a magnificent full-screen sizes, and for photos on your own page, you can choose to highlight the ones that are most meaningful to you just by clicking the star icon — the same one you would click to highlight activity on your timeline.
The Photos section on Timelines gets more beautiful on Facebook.
Additionally, when you click Photos at the top of your Timeline, you will be greeted with larger pics that fill up the page. Ideally, presenting a page full of images will certainly make it easier to share photos. As Facebook’s blog stated on Monday, “With your Facebook photos all in one area, it is simple to show friends your favorites. Click the star button to make important photos stand out.”
Furthermore, users will also be able to emphasize more precisely in which photos stand out amidst the collage. Within each photo, an option appears to “highlight,” meaning that it will be ascribed more prominence in the new photo section. Hovering over the photo will also generate information about the photo — including the title, likes, and comments. Users will also be able to access likes and comments without having to click on the photo first.
The company noted that it initially started making major changes to its photo features a while ago, hence, you may not have the new feature yet, as the social-networking giant is pushing it out gradually to all of its 955 million monthly active users. “It will be rolling out slowly over the course of a few weeks,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement.
Overall, the social media giant has been regularly tweaking the look and feel of Photos on its site since the service was first introduced and this appears a big improvement. Given that there are more than 300 million photos uploaded to Facebook daily, so its about time.
