FACEBOOK IPAD APP; REVEALED EVEN BEFORE THE CREATORS KNEW

July 26, 2011 0

iPad owners were in a fix when Mark Zuckerberg last year termed iPad as a computer and that it was not similar to the smartphones. It left people wondering whether their iPad will ever get a Facebook app or no. But he even hinted at coming up with an iOS app of Facebook for the big screen of iPad. However no one knew that it would be revealed in such a weird way. Call it hidden or leaked, but Facebook app is now available for iPad owners.

This app for iPad in fact is well in the code of iPhone’s app of Facebook which has been hid for some other purpose. This version has been awaited since a year now and the ‘Facebook code’ has just made the iPad owners amazingly happy. This app is much better than the normal app. This is one within the code and yet is perfectly executable. This app is all in HTML5.

This version’s navigation system as compared to the Facebook app of iPhone is better. iPhone app has for now even been criticized by the creator of the app who termed it as ‘stale’. iPad app makes use of the menu system on the left side which one can access if he/she flicks the iPad screen or touches a button. Pop-overs are even used perfectly which has been a feature for other iPad apps too. On flipping the iPad horizontally, one can get a drop down list of their friends who are online on Facebook. One can start chatting with them even when they are working out other things. Talking about the photo-viewer, it is quite like the Photos app which is out of the Apple box for iPad. Places again is appreciatable as one can view a map which is big enough.

This version can actually be a leaked one or a hidden one because the iPhone app was recently updated and the version 3.4.4 wherein the Facebook app developers had revived the ‘Send’ button which would be used for chat and comments along with a few other uses. It is being assumed that Facebook in a rush to resort a few settings in the app, jammed in the iPad version. If that is the case, then it is very odd that a bug fixation gave iPad users something which they were eagerly waiting for. This version can now be used for both iPhone and iPad which makes it a Universal Binary.

The revelation of this unintentional mistake was made by Marvel Bernal who is an engineering student in Canada. He terms himself as “iOS Enthusiast” and he did prove it this time at least. He noticed this glitch from Facebook developers and was quicker than lightening to tweet the news to his pals on Twitter.

Mark Zuckerberg had noted that Facebook was all set for a number of launches in the weeks to come and this app would be in the list and finally after numerous complaints Facebook is out with the most awaited iPad app in the weirdest way possible. Nick Bilton of New York Times had stated the launch of this app a month back and had then said that it would be out in the weeks to come. Again its existence was verified but the launch date was not known. It seems it is the first app which was announced to the users via a user while the makers were still planning a grand launch for it.
