Social media giant Facebook has given a new dimension to the term social and now is on the verge of taking it even further. In collaboration with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution (WBDD), the social network is going to bring a unique show viewing experience to users, come October 18.
Aptly titled ‘Aim High’, the Warner Bros. show is set to become the first social series to air on Facebook. Viewers can now become a part of the show by simply opting into the application of the show’s Facebook page. The Facebook app will allow you to include your profile information (photos, text and friends) and by doing this you will get a personalized viewing mode that will allow you to see yourself or your friends integrated into select scenes throughout the series. For eg., your photo or your friends’ photo can suddenly appear on a student body election poster, or your name may be seen as a graffiti on the bathroom wall. Not only will viewers have an immersive and engaging experience, but also a social one, since they can share comments, scenes and tweet about their favorite moments from the show.
Warner Bros. started testing streaming movies for rent on Facebook, six months ago, with The Dark Knight. It later added five more movies and now they are all set to try out a Facebook show. Thomas Gewecke, President of WBDD said, “Facebook is an increasingly influential destination for discovering and acquiring movie and television content. This effort takes video distribution to a whole new level by making the actual viewing experience personal and social in a truly innovative and entertaining way.”
Producer of ‘Aim High’, JosephMcGinty Nichol said, “The ability for fans to become part of a production by simply watching a show is truly revolutionary. I’m delighted that Aim High is the first to embrace this technology and I’m looking forward to including this in future productions.”
‘Aim High’ is an action, comedy series starring Jackson Rathbone, Aimee Teegarden and Greg Germann. It tells the story of a young man leading a double life – juggling his studies by day and serving as a government operative by night. It chronicles the life of Nick Green, a junior who is just starting a new school year as one of the country’s 64 highly trained teenage operatives.
When he is not handling international spies, Nick is dreaming of Amanda Miles, the most popular girl in school who is cool, intelligent and very alluring. Amanda mercilessly flirts with Nick, but before he can enjoy her advances he has to avoid Derek – her overly protective boyfriend who threatens him for even looking at her.
‘Aim-High’ will debut on October 18 through Facebook.com/AimHighseries and Cambio.com. The series is written and created by Heath Corson and Richie Keen who also serve as executive producers. Thor Freudenthal of ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ fame will direct the series.
