Schachter sold Delicious to Yahoo in 2005 and served the company until 2008 before leaving. The following year he joined Google, staying on board for less than a year and half. He has expressed in the past that he repent selling Delicious to Yahoo.
His next tweet then goes on to say that he has “no clue” what he is going to do next. It is completely puzzling at this time why he is parting ways with the search giant.
So, even if Schachter does not have a hefty engagement on the horizon, we are sure he will be able to land one quickly. Venture capitalist Jeff Clavier has already made an approach to Schachter, and the Delicious founder has already proven that he is competent enough of building and scaling a web startup.
Schachter of course is best acknowledged for founding bookmarking service Delicious. He has been fairly vocal about his dissatisfaction with the direction of Delicious and even rolled out his own threaded Twitter conversation application last Summer while at Google.
According to Business Insider tracking up with Schachter, when asked why he was leaving Google, Schachter said that he “Felt like doing something new,” but seemingly does not know what that new project is. Yet. Schachter joined Google last January as an engineer and also continued his role as an independent angel investor.
He says that he may lessen his speculation during this next stage of his career. Schachter’s angel investments include Foursquare, SimpleGEO, Square, DailyBooth, Bump Technologies and most recently BlockChalk and 4chan founder Moot’s new startup Canvas Networks.
Best of luck to Schachter on his next chapter.
