Humboldt University, Berlin’s oldest university made an announcement on Monday that it will be partnering Google along with other three German institutions to open a research institute.
This institute would be unique in its own way as it would consider examining the evolution of Internet and even how it has impacted the economy, philosophy, science and society. This research institute would focus on matters such as constitutional rights, philosophy, etc. However its main focus would be on innovation, Internet and media play. Google has made online search innovatively easy and now this contribution for building a research institute will only help the learners to gain exquisite knowledge in the fields of Internet and related activities.
Talking about the monetary terms, funding from Google’s side would be euro4.5 million which comes up to 6.41 million USD. This funding would continue for a span of three years to the institute. After these three years the group would look for other sponsors to build on.
Humboldt University was founded in 1810 and was named University of Berlin. However its name was changed to Humboldt University(German: Humboldt-Universität) in 1949. This was done in honor of its founder Wilhelm along with Alexander von Humboldt who was Wilhelm’s brother and was a naturalist by profession.
The other three German institutes involved in this research project are the Hamburg Hans-Bredow-Institute, the Social Science Research Center Berlin and the Berlin University of Arts.
