Ask.com Click Fraud Allegations May Be Settled

A class action suit covering alleged victims of click fraud and other invalid or improper clicks on online advertisements purchased from IAC Search & Media Inc. and Ask Jeeves Inc. (now Ask.com) may be resolved by a proposed settlement announced Wednesday.

“Seems Lane’s Gifts are not the only ones getting money back from LookSmart and Ask for click fraud, letters were sent out for the class action suit that both companies are trying to put behind them.”

Both letters written by the same law firm and were from the suit lodged in the Circuit Court of Miller County, Arkansas.

“Search engine Ask has launched a feature that it hopes will prove a selling point for consumers concerned about their online privacy…”

San Francisco -- Hoping to add to its paltry market share in the Google-dominated world of Internet search, Web search site Ask.com is launching a feature that allows users to delete data on their search queries in an effort to bolster personal privacy while surfing the Internet.

A link titled “AskEraser” will be featured on the site’s home page and all search results pages, with a clear choice to signal whether the feature should be “On” or “Off” during a user’s search requests.

AOL Packs Up New Ad Platform, Moves To Big Apple

“Internet chameleon AOL consolidated its various online advertising properties on Monday in what the company said was the “final stage” of its transformation into an ad-supported business.”

Looks like the “A” in AOL actually stands for “Advertising!” The once-mighty Time Warner-owned online media company on Monday announced a shakeup that will place ad revenue squarely in its corporate crosshairs, grouping its advertising properties -- Advertising.com, as well as the recent acquisitions of behavioral ad firm Tacoda, mobile unit Third Screen Media, video ad outfit Lightningcast and Adtech -- into a new entity that it calls “Platform A.”
