Los Angeles — Little green pigs across the nation are shivering in fear now that after a long wait, the wildly popular ‘Angry Birds’ bird slinging game finally makes its way to the Windows Phone 7 platform today.
It has certainly been a long journey, as Angry Birds has been widely admired on both Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android mobile operating systems. The app has finally landed in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Sadly, the app is only available free to try and $2.99 to purchase — “a few hours ahead of schedule and so fresh it has not even been rated yet,” Microsoft said in a blog post. “Be the first — or just hunker down with your phone and get dem pigs.”

Moreover, Microsoft had promised to unfurl the application on June 29th and has precisely managed to live up to the promise as well.
Strangely enough, the Windows Phone 7 marketplace has been plagued with lack of applications. In terms of sheer numbers, WP7 lags far behind platforms like Symbian, Apple, and Android and today’s WP7 business background image is not for Angry Birds but The Sims 3. But Angry Birds has had over 250 million combined downloads worldwide.
However, Microsoft is all settled to change that pretty soon. Now Microsoft’s WP7 users have finally been granted access to one of the most famous mobile phone games of all time.
The app come with 165 levels. In order to finish the game, a user must make his way through these levels. The game is a 17MB download and the last of the six games in the Xbox Must Have Games series. The other five are Hydro Thunder Go, Doodle Jump, Geodefence, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I and Plants vs Zombies.
Additionally, those stores will also be selling physical Angry Birds merchandise, which Rovio chief marketing officer Peter Vesterbacka said was the first step in selling Angry Birds trinkets in locations other than the Rovio Web site.
Meanwhile, Rovio recently disclosed that it will now be tweeting via the @AngryBirds feed rather than @RovioMobile. People already following @RovioMobile will automatically be transferred to the Angry Birds feed. Rovio reps will be online answering questions on weekdays from 10am to 5pm Finnish time, except holidays, but cannot provide details about updates and new games.
