ANDROID MARKET, NOW EFFECTIVE MARKET

July 14, 2011 0

Google on Tuesday gave Android market a new face. Android users were waiting for this to happen and this wish was finally fulfilled. However the update is not yet on a full-fledged platform. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is yet to witness this new update of android market in most of the countries. The blog of android developers has reported that Google has already updates Android 2.2 (Froyo) devices. Android market now is claimed to be a lot more easier and faster than before.

Talking about the update, applications which be show-casted in a much more improved way. It can only be said that this update will resolve if not all, most of the problems users were facing while using the Android market. The biggest problem faced was that the user interface wasn’t really good earlier. It would now enable user-interface even in the Android Market. This would result in improved download speeds and browsing would be clutter free. Trending, top new free and top grossing will be new lists in this update.

This update would really be appreciated for an integration of Google apps, Video and Books in a single interface. This specific change will alone help to improve fragmentation problems which was faced on the Android platform by many Google properties.

It can be said that this update really made everyone wait as earlier in May, during Google’s conference of annual developer, it had made an announcement relating to the update for Android Market.

The previous version of Android market was posed with a problem even in its design as it has the curvy lines which didn’t look any good. However the new design is thoughtfully designed and squarish functional design has been used. This new design is bound to get the attention of the Android Market users. The top charts even have more options to one’s selection and is new and many other relevant items have been included.

Talking about the UI, now much more content is made available and many other apps can be viewed a given point of time. Moving our from one category to other can now be slided sideways. It would really be convenient for users to switch from one slide to another. Additionally, there has been an increase in the number of categories. The newly added categories are Editor’s Choice Apps and staff picks.

Another interesting update made is Movies and Books inclusion. They actually were separate applications earlier. This update is quite impressive as one can rent movies at a price band starting from 1.99 USD. One can stream it on their phone once rented or can even get it downloaded for viewing them later. Streaming movies through this up-gradation would even help save storage space as the movie would be loaded only. One just has to sign up from their own Google Accounts as usual. However people only in US can avail to this specific update. Other countries will soon be able to avail this update even along with the other updates.

The newly launched Android Market has a limitation as for now only Android devices which have Froyo or a higher version running can get it on their Android phones. But this is a short term limitation as in the weeks to come it will be supported by other handsets even.

Google has got the Android Market updated quite smartly but if one looks at its first page closely, one might find Android Market’s new look to have some similarities with windows phone 7 interface. Nevertheless, it can be said that its an attempt which should make Android users happy.
