The search engine giant has a large scale redesign for the sing up process, which means that it every way, it wants Google+ to be a part of anyone, intending to use any service of Google. This means that the main entry point would now be Google+.
The procedure here requires new users to fill in details like first name, last name, date of birth, gender and country. Here, the ‘e-mail address’ option is switched to a compulsory ‘Gmail address’. These details form a basis for a proper Google+ account yet again.
Google’s forced invitations to Google+ are even increasing its user count. Recently, Google CEO Larry Page announced that the company’s social network hit 90 million members. The count is rising actually because of various accidental sign ups for the Google+ account.
Say for an instance, where a user wants a Google Account to make use of a Google Calendar or Google Docs or any personalized service of Google+, Google they will have to mandatory
But Larry Page claims things as:
Engagement on + is also growing tremendously. I have some amazing data to share there for the first time: +users are very engaged with our products — over 60% of them engage daily, and over 80% weekly.
For those, who are still confused about the sign up process, here is a detailing to the same.
As can be seen in the screenshot below, the first page of the sign up process, requires users to fill in their basic details. That is what one would do in general to have a Google Account, or rather a Gmail Account.
Once done with it, the next step requires users to add a profile photo for a Google+ account( as can be seen in the screenshot below). The photo upload is not necessary, but once they move on to the next step, their Gmail and Google+ account is already created by the search engine giant.
Having created the Google+ account, which is mandatory, there is an option for the users to delete Google+ profile and every other Google+ associated features from one’s Google account. The screenshot below details the fact.
Clicking on the above marked option, it gives users two options:
But the point is, many users don’t intent to waste time on deleting their Google+ account and the count keeps on growing.
There is a possibility that this might even ignite participation, directly or indirectly. This is because in some way or the other, this user is bound to meet a Google+ Profile or Page on its way in the Google Search, which might be +1’d or added to Circles.
So, in every possible way, Google has the platform set, which means that in a year’s time or two, Google+ would be in serious competition with Twitter and Facebook.
