GALAXY NEXUS HITS VERIZON; GET ONE TODAY FOR $299.99

December 15, 2011 0

Finally Verizon has has embraced the Galaxy Nexus with 4G LTE, which will be available on Dec. 15 for Verizon, that is today. The device will be available through Verizon beginning at 1 a.m. EST.

With a two-year contract, the phone will sell for $299.99, which by default qualifies for Verizon’s double data promotion. This means that if someone buys this device from Verizon and opt for the data plans, they get double usage available in a specific plan. For example, if one opts for a 2GB plan, they get 4GB instead.

Currently, the data plans are priced as 2GB, 5GB, 10GB which costs $30, $50, $80 per month respectively. However, if one wants to make use of the ability, using the Galaxy Nexus LTE connection as a mobile hotspot is an extra $20.

Google and Samsung’s latest attempt in this case is Galaxy Nexus, which seems to be the strongest competitor to iPhone 4S and possibly even the rumored iPhone 5. A loyal iPhone user would never want to switch over as of now, even though this Samsung’s device is powered with the latest update of Android, that is IceCream Sandwich.

However, for the other interested users, Galaxy Nexus is an almost clean piece, which sports a 4.65-inch display running at 1280 by 720 resolution, with a 5-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a 1.2-gigahertz dual core processor and 1 gigabyte of RAM under the hood.

Unfortunately, a few pre-launch bugs were found, which might be fixed in the near future, making it a much better competitor to the iPhone. It should fix things before iPhone 5 is out in the market, as it wouldn’t take time for Apple to spread the news of the launch and it would earn a ‘sold out’ tag soon.

Talking about the offers, Verizon’s offer price for iPhone 4S is less as compared to that of Galaxy Nexus. This undoubtedly shifts the balance in Apple’s favor. Verizon is one of the most popular network providers and this would mean that if things are looked at competitively, Apple has an upper hand. But Nexus has the ability to amuse many with its efficiencies, which needs to be in focus for a longer time if Samsung wants to count success.

For Nexus, things might not be really easy still, as its facing competition from yet another popular device, which is powered by Android. This device is Motorola Droid Razr. Powered with Android Gingerbread, it will be launched on the SAME DAY, that is today!

Razr fits in a number of advantages to take on the competition, as it comes with an expandable memory slot option and even has the CDMA facility, which are not provided by Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Surprisingly, it is priced with the same tag as is Galaxy Nexus, $299.99.

It seems Nexus, first will have to compete with an Android powered device only, before it launches a bigger and better attack on Apple devices.
