GMAIL TO CROSS THE IPHONE FRONTIER?

November 1, 2011 0

Android and Apple may have a number of differences, in terms of functionality, usability and apps. In a few cases, Apple holds supremacy, while in some cases, its Android. But it seems, Google tends to mutualize one benefit it has been holding from the start. Gmail has been a core part of the Android experience, and it has been preventing quite a few users from switching over to iPhone.

The Gmail app is rumored to be coming soon, as MG Siegler reported that a native Gmail app for the iPhone is being worked out by the search engine giant. However, the talks on its functionality is being tested as the app is probably submitted to Apple for approval. Gmail addicts, owning an iPhone might have craved for the same to happen long back, but nevertheless, its in processing and a full fledged native app would be possibly out soon.

The Gmail app integration is expected to bring in the browser and Android features such as Priority Inbox, starring and a seamless experience to be productive.

MG made a note stating that Google has not been able to come up with a Gmail app successfully for the iPhone till now. But he seemed to be happy with this revamped Gmail app, as he notes, ‘This is great news for a couple of reasons. First: native Gmail app! Awesome. Second: those who have seen the app tell me it’s pretty fantastic. Perhaps even surprisingly so.’ MG even stated that if Google misses out on including the new contact cards and Google+ integration, the app would still hold good reach, as many would mainly hope for Priority Box to come in the iPhone app.

Again, the Push Notifications on this app would make things really easy for the iPhone users.

Talking about a native Gmail app for iPhone, it seems like Google finally plans to relieve iPhone users from cramming into Safari. There was even a possibility that if one scrolls in, they might be hitting the wrong area, and unexpectedly, they would fall in a whole new menu.

It would be interesting to see as to how does Google fits in the Gmail app, which is to be arranged as per the preference of iOS 5. That would be challenging, but if it is to come , then there is all joy as the shift from the iPhone platform to the iPad, would not be a hassle.

Google shares no real success, when it comes to the Apple’s iOS 5. Recently, Google’s latest attempt to push in its social networking app into iOS 5, failed terribly, keeping itself and its iPhone users on wait.

Talking about the app improvements on Android, there might be happy news too. One can expect changes to come in for the Android OS too, once the Gmail app successfully enters the iPhone devices.

The rumor still awaits a final decision, which would be known to everyone sooner or later.
