GOOGLE+ NOW MEASURED BY KLOUT; +1 MORE EFFECTIVE

September 21, 2011 0

Google’s new social networking site recently opened its doors to everyone, which was followed by another update that Klout, the social networking influence measuring company, had Google+ added to its offerings.

Director of Ranking at Klout, Ash Rust blogged the company’s excitement with the announcement that Google+ is now integrated into Klout. Rust termed Google+ as the fastest growing social media destination of all time and even noted that it has in a split second become a highly requested feature. He further wrote that Google+ has been accurately been handling the mix of sharing and privacy. This has even been effective to bridge the public/private divide to capture their attention from the start.

Rust was all in for Google+ as he started briefing up the advantages one would enjoy on Google+. To start with, a user can restrict their content to a desired specific audience only, while posting an update for everyone is always an available option. Again, the search engine giant has integrated its most effective weapon to Google+, which is the search engine. This means that public posts would be integrated into their search results, which would expand “the audience of content creators and their potential influence.”

Rust had some information on the Klout ranking even as he noted that they have seen many users using Google+ as for a blog replacement, a user feedback system and, most importantly, to post pictures. In each and every case above, the Klout score would be measured on the basis of getting comments and +1’s on one’s post from influential users, and not on the basis of one getting added to circles. To get Klout score, one has to get connected to Google+ via the Klout dashboard.

Rust commented that a few readers might think of Klout’s ranking related to social networks as much hooey, but it in fact they have been putting in efforts to make the experience far better than just counting the noses of all online friends of a user. Moreover, there were many businesses wherein the consideration for Klout score is taken up seriously. For an instance, on the basis of Rust’s Klout score, he has got several business offers.

In an unrelated development for Google+, Google Display Network (GDN) will now have the functionality of +1. Additionally, +1 data will be serving as a signal of relevance currently in the AdWords auction, being for display only. This button of Google+ is affecting the auction as advertisers are able to note the possible visits. It is like if a person +1’s a site or ad, display ads in the network associated with that URL, there is a better possibility of the ad being displayed amongst a viewer’s friends.

This extension from Google’s social networking site has been considered as an “extra boost” by Google in a blog post. This is because while bidding a price and quality score, robust +1 activity would even be rewarded. There was a supporting statement from Christian Oestlien, Lead Product Manager for Social Advertising, who said, “When an ad is personally annotated, there’s a positive impact on click-through rate.” The additional advantage is that users actually turn basic promoters from an advertiser’s product, which in fact would mean taking advantage of social means to support one’s existing ad campaigns.
