GOOGLE APP UPDATES FOR IOS AND ANDROID

September 12, 2011 0

Google has I few updates ringing in for Android, iPhone and iPad. the interesting updates are a few good ones, making it better for the smartphone and tablet users. For the iOS users, there are two worthy improvement which are for Google Places and the Blogger app, while the Android users get the Google Maps update. Here’s a brief outline of the key features, starting with the iOS improvements.

Starting with the Google Places app, iPhone and iPad users will now be able to get access to a few more filtering options which has been worth using in this update. To be specific, one can now narrow their results by its distance, overall rating or average price per plate. Google has even pushed in an option which would help the users to see whether the location is open. Reviews even can be read in full now, which were available only as snippets earlier on.

The next iOS update is for the Blogger app, which would help many iPhone and iPad users in publishing their posts, saving drafts and even get access to drafts, directly from their mobile devices. The unique thing here is that the access to drafts can be made even for those drafts which are created via any other system, which may be one’s PC, laptop or any other mobile device. The iOS users even have an option to take pictures from the app directly and make an addition of those pictures to their post.

For the Android users, the update comes in for Google Maps. It is surprising that Google Places app for Android is not updated as Places form an integral part of Google Maps. But to compensate the Android world, Google Maps is adding in its own additions, which would include an option for a user to see quickly any location they have rated 4 or 5 stars. One can with this option even upload photos with Places reviews. The version update is to 5.10.0.

Google has been bifurcating updates intelligently for its Android and the Android-rival Apple. Looking at the update list, one might think that Google has forgotten its own baby and is only working hard for iOS users, but there seems to be a twist to the tale. The updates for iOS devices are actually updates, while Android gets a booster from the search engine giant developers. Talking about the Places and Google Maps, the usage of Places is rare by the user, but having a new interesting feature for the Google Maps can really be an interesting thing to look out for.

However, apart from these updates, Google even has an update for its web app. Google Music (Beta), which is a cloud-based application was out only for the Android users till now. However, the extension now adds in all smartphone users to enjoy this service via this web app, while they are accessing to the other features. It is notable as on iOS one can play music in the background even as they play around with other application on their phone. In this case however, the users will have to make use of the cloud and get their music uploaded in there. A current login for the beta music service is even required.
