Google services and products have always done a lot even when they are in the beta mode and yet again the search engine giant has proved the point right. Google Offers even is in its beta stage, but its planned expansion has a coverage of five additional cities which are Austin, Boston, Washington, D.C., Denver and Seattle.
Looking at the daily deals which are being offered by Google Offers, it can be easily assumed that the promotions in these cities would be on a large scale. Yesterday the promotions had started to pop up all over these cities, but they were not redeemable until today. Some of the offers ranged from sales on ice cream to cheaper admission rates at the Seattle Aquarium.
This extension now means that eight metropolitan areas are now in the count for Google Offers, which does not spell out nationwide domination in the United States. But as it is growing, one can easily call it the beginning for Google Offers to have a larger dominance.
Yesterday, Larry Dignan of ZDNet pointed out that Google is well equipped to compete and even replace Groupon and other major daily deal players with the capital and a user base it carries on its shoulders. The added advantage Google has is that of name recognition and the brand name that would attract more consumers to not only trust Google, but even pave the path for Google to succeed.
The existence of Google Offers on mobiles and tablets however is still not in the eyes of everyone, but actually Google Offers is available to anyone, who may be using an Android device or not.
For a briefing of Google Offers, they were launched in late May in three major U.S. cities, which was during this summer, but at the end of summer, Google has added in five more cities. One can only assume that the further expansions might even come at a short notice as Google has been spreading Offers at a quicker than just quick basis. As for now, there are still more than two dozen U.S. cities who are on the roadmap of Google Offers, which include Atlanta, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Miami.
Google Offers competitors are quite strong and well established too as is daily deal major Groupon. But Groupon has applied brakes on their plans for their IPO which can be a huge plus point for Google Offers as for now. Another possible competitor for Google Offers was Facebook’s daily deal venture which has been abandoned last month as Facebook had made its announcement about winding down its Deals product. The testing phase was therefore restricted to just four months for Facebook Deals.
Coming back to Google Offers, one can get the subscription from www.google.com/offers and choose a specific city and click on the ‘subscribe’ button there. The login requirement is restricted here as one will have to login with their Google Account. Android users can even be a step ahead as then can register via the ‘Today’s Offer’ tab in the Google Shopper 2.0 app.
