Social media share buttons are here there everywhere, but according to BrightEdge, only 53.6% of websites make use of these social share buttons which include the Google+, Facebook and Twitter buttons. This percentage rise is only a slight shift from its last month’s percentile which was 52.8%. This percentage might just raise doubts on how popular and how effective these social media share buttons can be. But a report of BrightEdge notes that with a Twitter share button, a site would have seven times more link mentioned as compared to those sites which do not have a Twitter share button.
Talking about BrightEdge, which is a provider of an enterprise-class SEO platform, stated that their analysis included over 4 million tweets showing pages which are displayed via the Twitter share button. In count for the most popular share button implemented by the sites, Facebook leads the race with 50.3% adoption rate which is followed by Twitter as it is closer now with 42.5%. Google+ share button just has 8% popularity which is on the rise like the Facebook and Twitter share buttons. On the lame side, LinkedIn has managed just 4% which remains barely flat without any major appraisal.
The point that can be noted here is that without any doubt, not having these sharing buttons can make a web page much more cleaner, but it does not really help the cause of the marketer. However, it can be said that for a marketer, having these social sharing buttons form the easiest way to incline their popularity curve.
Jim Yu, CEO of BrightEdge said that the trend of having a social sharing button is setting up the momentum for implementing the social marketing opportunity which can be done immediately without any real cost. Yu even said that they got this stat with the help of the update their perform on a monthly basis for the SocialShare reports. BrightEdge SocialShare Analysis’ September issue notes that in the largest 10,000 sites on the web, almost half of them still are without any display of the social media sharing buttons or links. Yu said that this was more of a surprise as an effective medium for promotion was not yet adopted by more than half of the largest sites on the web.
Director of Platform at Twitter, Ryan Sarver said that the analysis made by BrightEdge makes it all clear that making use of these social products such as Twitter’s Follow Button or Tweet Button, one can reap valuable returns for themselves. He even said that these are free as well as simple tools to earn real ROI for one’s website.
Talking about the analysis, Yu even said that the selection of Tweets was at random which was done with the help of their new Social Share Engine cloud technology. This cloud technology is used to track the sharing and interactions being done by the users with the use of social links and buttons. The SocialShare analysis is powered by the BrightEdge SocialShare Engine. It is even helpful in letting the marketers know the impact which is created by their social strategies on SEO.
