August 1, 2011 0

Its Official!! There is a new update for Facebook video chat users who use Facebook on Windows. Skype is out with an update for the combination users of Facebook on Windows. A beta version, Skype 5.5 was made public two days back. This update looks out for those friends of the user who are from Facebook and if they are online and available for chat, the user can video chat with them and they need not leave Skype. There are even a few additional features this softwares provides a user with.

The procedure is even quite simple as the user can just click on the View menu which is in the software of Skype. Then, from the drop down option, one can choose Facebook Friends. Selecting this option would show the user a list of their Facebook friends. After clicking on the said option, one can close the Home screen of Skype. Additions to video chatting, one can even update their Facebook status and scrolling down would allow them to view their Facebook wall.

Skype claims that the integration of Facebook is made but additionally there are a few more improvements in Skype 5.5. This version of Skype is quite impressive as one would feel that the reliability of calls is better and group and video calls for Windows has much better controls. The eye candy would be the different changes in designs would one would see in their interface. The effects would be mostly understood by those users who have used Skype on Facebook.

One can even update their earlier version of Skype to the latest one. For this, they have to go to the Help menu and click on “Check for Updates” link. For Skype 5.3 version users however, there are a few problems being faced as they are unable to update their current version to the latest one. If there is a problem for one to get the update, they can download it manually from here. They would just have to install the latest version of 5.5.

Skype has basically worked harder on stabilizing its video calling to a great extent and has successfully earned compliments for the same. This version has animations which are smoother now and the emoticons have been even updated. This looks to be just another added feature of this update.

Skype is an old player in the market and its eight years establishment will enrich the online telecommunications experience of its users. It has a global user base of more that 2/3 of a billion. Skype has seen a number of integrations and the time frame has been short. They have turned their services from ‘luxury’ category to the ‘necessity’ category, mainly for those users who either have their families living afar or have to travel a lot around the world.

But the tech world got a shock when the Software giant acquired an indebted Skype for a shocker 8.5 billion USD. Some claim that the amount was a bid to keep Google away from laying its hand over it. But still, the bid is questionably a very expensive one, considering the fact that Windows Live Messenger, which is out of the software giant’s warehouse has, around 330 million users who are active on a monthly basis.

Nonetheless, Skype is a great service and users have relied over it for quite some time now. Hopefully this new update will even prove to be a pleasurable experience for one and for all.
