Calling via Gmail has a new service addition which supports multiple lines. This would help users in managing a certain number of ongoing calls as one time only. Gmail has been serving with calls for quite some time now. Its call support list includes video and voice conversation along with that one can even make calls to cellphones which is an effective tool. Not this new service will just boost the enhanced service of Gmail calls.
Multiple calls on Gmail is a feature which is quite similar to that used on our normal cellphones i.e. when there is a new incoming call, one can answer it after they have placed the first call on hold. To place a call on hold, one has to click on ‘Resume’ button. Yet again when one wants to make a call to a second person while there are on a call already, they would have to place the existing call on hold. Call waiting feature will again be the same as when an incoming call is there while one is already on a call, it will be flagged.
One can get full support with this new system which has a ll phone, video and voice calls. However at one given point of time one can get support for only 2 outgoing calls which can be made to phones of physical nature. One only needs to install a plug-in for this which is Google’s voice and video plug-in. This is a one time setup which would be required for a user only for the first time and then for the next time onwards it will not be required.
The new features even include placing on hold even where only one call is ongoing. Again rejecting a call is on the user itself and as per his wish there can be a rejection. Richard Dunn who is a software engineer has even confirmed the accessibility of the new feature in every possible way via his blog post. However Mashable, which is a tech site said that its good but however there is no music when a call is on hold which will become quite boring. Music would have kept the person on hold entertained.
Mashable again notified saying that if one uses the Gmail video and phone system in Canada or US, they would not be charged all throughout 2011.
