WHAM SPAM ON GOOGLE VOICE !

July 14, 2011 0

Google has found a way of delivering you from the clutches of ‘telemarketers’ on Google Voice. It has introduced a free to use feature which will automatically detect calls, messages and texts from spammers or telemarketers and send them directly to a user’s spam folder.

Earlier, Google Voice gave users the option to use the ‘Report Spam’ button within the Google Voice web app to thwart annoying telemarketers much like the Report Spam button in Gmail.

A Google Blog Post says, “Based on the database built up with the help of thousands of Google voice users who mark calls as spam and our own spam identification tools,we are now able to automatically redirect calls, texts and voicemails directly into your spam folder.

To enable the feature, just log into your Google Voice account and go into settings and “Calls.” From there, you can scroll down and click on the box next to “Send calls and text messages from numbers identified as spam by Google directly to the Spam folder”and you should be all set!

In the event that some numbers are mistakenly flagged as spam, you can go into your spam box select the message and click the ‘Not Spam’ button.

This service lets users route all their landline, work phone and cell phone calls to one special number. The service also transcribes voicemail messages and has several other perks.

Google acquired one of the premier anti-spam fighters for the cloud Communication Security and Compliance Company, Postini for $625 million in 2007.

The company then used Postini Message Security technology to thwart spam in its Gmail application, as well as across its Google Apps suite.

The blog entry said that with continued cooperation from users the service will continue to get better and will be able to efficiently filter spam.

The Google Voice Spam Filter empowers you to keep away unwanted callers by marking them as ‘spam’ and thwarting their plans to bog you with unwanted information.
