CUSTOMISE YOUR INBOX IN YOUR OWN WAY

July 12, 2011 0

Managing your inbox is not an easy task. Gmail last year came up with a unique way to manage one’s inbox, which is Priority Inbox. But is there still a feeling that something more is needed to manage your inbox? Of course you can read all the mails, star some of them and let some remain in the Priority Inbox. What more, right? Surprise yourself with the new option Gmail is introducing.

Gmail will provide the Gmail users with many new styles of inboxes in the coming weeks. You can choose the style which works the best in your case. The new set of styles have been classified as Classic, Priority Inbox, Important first, Unread first and Starred first.

Classic and Priority Inbox are styles known to everyone now. Classic is the traditional style of Inbox where in all the messages are arranged chronologically which shows the most recent mails at the top. Priority Inbox is a style in which unread and important messages are placed at the top, followed by starred messages and then other normal messages are placed. Here again each and every section can be customised which helps in creating one’s own inbox style.

Important first is a style which basically focuses on important mails, may it be read or unread, they would be placed at the top. Others are arranged in their own sections at the bottom of the inbox. Important mail are distinguished with importance arrows marked against such messages. This style basically separates arrowed messages with the others. Next style is the Unread first style. Its simple as unread messages/ mails are placed at the top while the read ones are placed below them. Finally we have the Starred first style which has the starred mails/ messages placed at the top while the others are placed below the starred ones.

These styles are tabbed at the top of the inbox for the start and once a style is selected, within a week these tabs would disappear. However inbox styles can be changed anytime from the settings page or through the drop down menu which is next to Inbox label.
