Mountain View, California — Google’s Gmail webmail service is one of the best means of virtual communication available today, while it has been adding tons of features through its Gmail Labs and other means, however, one of the most desired Rich Text or HTML Signatures feature has been missing from it until now. On Thursday, the California-based search engine titan has flipped the switch and enabled rich text formatting for email signatures right in Gmail.
Users can finally be done with all the geeky scripts, browser plugins and hacks to make this possible; it is all built into the web’s favorite email client. This means that, with ease, you will be able to spice up your email signatures by changing font sizes, colors, and adding images, among other things.

Users anxious to tinker with the new feature must not do anything different than they have done before to access signature properties. According to the Gmail blog, the next time you log in, simply head over to the Settings page, here you will find the new options, just modify and customize your signature to hearts content by adding pretty formatting, links, and even images. You can also set a custom signature for each of your email addresses. Freelancers rejoice!
Once you have finished customizing your new signature, just save your settings and the signature will be tagged to your outgoing emails. You can also set different signatures for different accounts you have set up with Gmail.
In addition to the addition of an RTE, Gmail has now also included a unique signature for each email address linked with your account. So, if you send mail using a custom “From:” address, you can use a different signature for that address.
This feature will come in handy if say, you wish to send mail from both personal and business email addresses under one account, so now you can have separate signatures for each as appropriate. From the Settings page, you can edit the signature for each account by changing the email address that appears in the dropdown menu.
Note: If the feature is not visible in your settings as yet, just refresh it. Oh and Google Apps users — This feature is available for you too to jot down your signatures.
