Ask Jeeves Opens Campbell Office, Expands Oakland HQ

November 20, 2005 0

Ask Jeeves Inc. has relocated its South Bay operations into a new, larger space in Campbell, California.

Ask Jeeves said it has moved an office from Los Gatos to a new 16,000-square-foot Campbell office space at 655 Technology Parkway. It said the new space will accommodate new hires as well as current employees being relocated from the former offices. The company has also expanded its corporate headquarters in Oakland, California.

The headquarters expansion in Oakland comes within the Class A office building Ask Jeeves occupies at 555 12th St. which the company moved into in 2004. The company said its organization has increased rapidly, warranting the acquisition of additional space within the building.

As a growing company in one of the hottest high-tech sectors, we needed to increase our workspace across our Bay Area locations to meet our aggressive hiring efforts, said Glen Sunnergren, senior vice president of human resources at Ask Jeeves. Our growth plans will allow us to accelerate development of the world-class search and information-retrieval that we have been creating in our Oakland and Silicon Valley offices for years.

The modern warehouse space is more than 100 percent larger than the previous Silicon Valley offices, and has a central location that offers quick access to major highways and mass transit, in addition to parks, basketball courts and a nearby golf course.

With offices in both the East Bay and Silicon Valley, we are able to access the broadest pool of talented professionals across much of the Bay Area, said Sunnergren.

We find that Ask Jeeves’ success, along with an environment that enables every individual to have a direct impact on both the business and the millions of users we reach, is appealing to the driven, entrepreneurial-spirit of Bay Area job seekers.

The new office will focus on product development and engineering and will accommodate Ask Jeeves employees from various departments.
