December 16, 2008 0

Mountain View, Calif., — Search titan Google Inc. at its mobile blog announced that following its debut on Android as well as versions for the iPhone and BlackBerry, it is now adding “Street View” support of Google Maps on the Nokia Symbian/S60 and Windows Mobile smartphone platforms, which are popular in parts of Europe and Australia.

Street-level views allow you to see actual views of your travel itinerary. This will make traveling easy for people using these devices. Now you can travel around with Google maps in your device that will help you to locate your destination easily.

Street view empowers users to have a visual view of buildings, trees, landmarks that they are looking out. It offers complete visual view of street when locating your destination.

According to the Google Mobile Blog, the latest version of Google Maps for mobile also adds the ability to “request walking directions” (in addition to driving and public transit) to get anywhere on foot, receive transit alerts from participating public transportation authorities, and see what other people think of a place by reading reviews directly on your phone.

This will be helpful if you are visiting a place for the first time, Google street view will be your sole guidance in that unfamiliar place and help you to reach your destination easily.

“Say for instance you are going to meet with friends at an unfamiliar restaurant. Now you can search for it in Google Maps for mobile, click on [Street View], and see what the place and surrounding area look like,” the company stated in a blog post. “Similarly, say you need to get to a shop in a part of town you are not familiar with. Find it using your phone, get directions to it, and see how to get there with full-screen panorama images of every step along the way.”

As a result, the service that is currently available on the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, can help you familiarize yourself when looking for places, businesses, or getting directions.

The search giant is engaged in shooting pictures of streets in France, Italy, Spain and Australia and aims to offer the service on phones popular in these areas. Google further said it is in the process of expanding the list of international cities where Street View images are available.

The latest update of the Google Maps client extends support to the Nokia S60 and Windows Mobile platforms. Download these new Google maps from the official website before you get lost in an unfamiliar place.
