New York — TheLadders.com, the world’s largest online portal catering exclusively for prestigious jobs, on Monday announced the appointment of former Ask.com CEO Steve Berkowitz to its Board of Directors.
Most recently, Berkowitz, who has served as senior vice president of the Online Services Group at Microsoft where he was heading the marketing, sales and business development sections related to Microsoft’s online services, including MSN.com and Windows Live, is in the process of leaving the software maker, a move announced earlier this year.
“Steve is quite a knowledgeable and farsighted leader whose proven record of success leading online services makes him an ideal person to join our board,” said Marc Cenedella, founder and CEO of TheLadders.com. “I look forward to working with Steve; his insights and experience will be a significant addition to our board.”
Acting as a senior vice president of the Online Services Group at Microsoft, Berkowtiz managed Microsoft’s complete online advertising business, including the advertising global sales force, Microsoft adCenter, Live Search, as well as all of its content and advertising supported channels including MSN and Windows Live.
Furthering his role at Microsoft, Berkowitz was also the CEO of Ask.com where he created the management team that orchestrated the turn around of the search engine, which is currently the second-largest pure search site on the Internet. Prior to joining Microsoft, Berkowitz was the president and COO of IDG Books, where he successfully expanded the “Dummies” series of books and diversified IDG’s holdings establishing the company as a global consumer book brand.
