The new MSN iPad app is now available from the US App Store…

The new app is devised to bring all of the MSN channels that users are familiar with to their tablet devices. Besides, the free-of-cost, swipe-enabled MSN for iPad boasts an attractive user interface that displays news items and video in a grid from MSNBC.com and FoxSports.com, which is categorized in sequence by (Entertainment, Lifestyle, Cars, News, Sport, Video and Editor’s Picks).

Also, it is possible to view videos within the app, and share items via Facebook and Twitter. Furthermore, Microsoft’s Bing search engine is also integrated into the app, allowing users to search for topics they have read about quickly and easily.

As explained at the official MSN blog, iPad owners can gain easy access to the latest trending videos on the web and the freshest news divided according to genres. All content is handpicked by the MSN editorial team and assembled for sharing via Facebook, Twitter, Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger.

The newly released app offers a finger-friendly interface in the form of an online magazine and offers users easy access to plethora of news, sports, entertainment, MSN Editor’s Picks, videos, and financial news from around the world. Also, the app features an offline mode for access anywhere.

As outlined in the application’s release notes, additional features of MSN for iPad include:

  • Popular photo galleries and slideshows

  • Quick access to Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger

  • View in portrait and landscape modes, whatever is easier for you

MSN for iPad also unveiled the Lasso circle and search feature that debuted in the Bing for iPad app, a new search tool that facilitate users who have identified a word or phrase they wish to know more about to hold the left or right margin with their thumb, circling the content in question to launch a Bing search on the subject. The app also incorporates a homepage grid to simplify content updates and supports offline reading.

Nevertheless, MSN for iPad is the latest in a series of Microsoft applications developed for Apple’s iOS platform. Late last year, Microsoft unfurled My Xbox Live via Apple’s App Store, for the first time expanding features of its gaming network to iOS.
