Google Gives Makeover To AdWords Location Extensions

San Francisco — Last year, Google unveiled location extensions, which lets you “extend” your AdWords campaigns by dynamically attaching your relevant business address to your ads. The search engine giant has just released a new feature for its AdWords location extensions that allows brands to display the addresses of multiple branches in a particular area.

Google announced the latest update to the AdWords recently, which aims to expand how Google’s flagship search engine marketing platform can help advertisers reach local customers, and used this screenshot of a search for “Toys-R-Us” that includes four locations:

 

Once set up, Google effectively compares a business location to a users location or search phrases and displays them the address within the text ad. In the latest update to the feature, businesses having multiple addresses within a location — such as several different branches or different facilities — will be able to fully exploit the location extension.

Announcing the updated on the official AdWords blog, “Dan Friedman said that up to four sites can be shown at a time and the results are updated automatically whenever the user moves their map.” He further stated that by including address information relevant to a customer’s location, the extensions should help to drive traffic to stores.

Currently, this feature is available to primary business owners who have activated location extensions with Google Places who will be able to list the location of up to four of their properties within a certain area, as long as they are relevant to a potential customer’s location or query.

For now, location extensions with multiple addresses are available in the United States, Europe and many other countries/regions around the world. In some regions though — such as the middle east or Africa — only one country has access to the feature.
