Yahoo to Acquire AdInterax

Internet search titan Yahoo announced a deal to buy video advertising specialty company AdInterax.

Yahoo, the California-based Internet search engine, is investing in Right Media Exchange and buying AdInterax, an online ad publisher.

Yahoo said AdInterax's technology would be offered in conjunction with its own online ad tools for behavioral targeting, geo-targeting and demo-targeting. AdInterax's software tools enable advertising agencies and publishers to create, manage, serve and measure online advertising.

Yahoo bolstered its ad services by acquiring AdInterax and buying one-fifth of Right Media. AdInterax is an online ad publisher. Right Media lets the search engine offer advertisers the ability to bid on Yahoo's non-premium inventory through an open and transparent marketplace.

Yahoo! has started a beta trial of paid-for search results on its mobile internet service in the UK and US.
Internet giant Yahoo, lately said that it has launched a beta version of sponsored text advertising tied to mobile search in the United States and the United Kingdom, a move that gives the portal a jump on rivals Google and Microsoft.

The company introduced the new Mobile Sponsored Search product as a beta service offering advertisers text-based ads, an immediate wireless Web presence with a Yahoo-created landing page and a console to manage mobile marketing campaigns.

Yahoo Adds CBS News to Video Lineup

Yahoo Inc. and CBS Corp. -- have agreed to show news clips from 16 CBS stations in markets including Denver, New York and Los Angeles.
CBS and Yahoo will share advertising revenue generated by the clips, which will appear on Yahoo's news site, the companies said in a statement. Videos from CBS, the top-ranked U.S. television network, will soon appear on Yahoo.

Yahoo! Inc. has plans to launch “Search Marketing Solutions,” with plans to launch up to six new portals in regional languages and acquire or enter into partnership with an Indian company, a company executive said.

"There are plans," Yahoo! Search marketing general manager Sandeep Deshpande said adding that there are no definite dates for launch at this stage.

"We are looking at a lot of Indian languages for search."

Yahoo Software to Be Preloaded On HP Computers

The Internet media company, Yahoo Inc. of late said it has struck a deal with Hewlett-Packard Co. to plant its Internet search engine on millions of computers in North America and Europe, the latest volley in a high-stakes battle with Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp. In addition, Yahoo would be the default search portal when HP computers start shipping with Internet Explorer 7 later this year.

The alliance unites two companies trying to catch up to the longtime leaders in their respective fields.

Internet media giant Yahoo Inc. recently said that it had acquired Jumpcut, a site that provides simple-to-use online video-editing tools, in its latest bid to enhance its Web video services offerings.

Acer, Yahoo Team for Search

Yahoo Inc. said it had signed a multi-year deal to have its search tools distributed on PCs made by Taiwan-based Acer. Yahoo is hoping the move will help its search engine and other online tools reach users long before they even log onto the Web.

"Users will definitely have customer-oriented solutions," said Acer spokesperson Alison Williams. Acer users will be able to search better, and have a more direct connection to the company's customer service department though a special link. They can also keep updated on upcoming Acer products though a unique module that distributes company news.

Yahoo Adds Conference Calls to Message Service

Yahoo Inc. is offering free group conference calling services from Vapps Inc. to the roughly 80 million users of Yahoo's instant-message and Web telephone-calling service, the companies said in a statement.

Plug-in from conference-call services and equipment firm will allow up to 500 simultaneous participants per call.

Yahoo Mail Gets New Look

Yahoo has intensified the online battle for search engine devotees by releasing a prototype web-based e-mail service with slick online computer applications.

Web portal business Yahoo said that it integrated more features into its new Web mail client Yahoo Mail, as the portal made the beta service widely available in the United States and more than a dozen other countries.

Phishing is one of the most common online threats. In May, just over 20,000 phishing Web sites--a record--were reported to the Anti-Phishing Working Group, the organization said. Phishing typically combines spam e-mail with fraudulent Web sites to trick people into giving up sensitive information, such as “Yahoo user ID and Password.”
